Gettysburg Gala, November 18th 2022
The Gettysburg Foundation will present the 2022 Kinsley Award at the Gettysburg Gala on November 18, 2022 to the officers and crew of the USS Gettysburg (CG64) for their service to our country and their dedication to battlefield preservation here at Gettysburg. Through their service work on the battlefield and in the community, they exemplify their ship’s motto—deeds not words. The Foundation is honored to have a long-standing partnership with the USS Gettysburg and is thankful to the crew who have helped rehabilitate and preserve key areas of the battlefield, most recently by rebuilding fence lines on Seminary Ridge and replanting the historic orchard at the George Spangler Farm and Field Hospital Site.
It will be an inspired evening focused on the leadership lessons and enduring legacy of Gettysburg, with Captain Megan Thomas, Commanding Officer of the USS Gettysburg, and members of the crew on hand to accept the Kinsley Award. It will also feature Susan Eisenhower as the keynote speaker and filmmaker Ken Burns making a video appearance. We will pay tribute to the Gettysburg Foundation’s Board Chair Emeritus Bob Kinsley and honor our country’s veterans who have found inspiration and peace here at Gettysburg. We will close out the evening with an Eisenhower-era themed desert reception in the saloon with live music. It will be an engaging and inspiring night celebrating Gettysburg!
